Tax Tip

Okay I have a income tax tip.

Every year I have a file for income tax stuff (it is labeled "Income Tax", isn't that creative?). Whenever I have a tax receipt it goes in this file. Then come January when you start getting "important tax statements" from the financial institutions that you do business with, put them in that file the moment you get them.

Then about the 3rd week of February (you should have received everything you need already but make sure to double check) do your taxes or take your tax stuff to your accountant. You have everything you need right there. After your taxes are done and filed with the government, move everything you used to do your taxes to a new file (titled Income Taxes 2010). Move it to a different file drawer or location.

Now your original "income tax" folder is empty and ready to start collecting receipts for the next tax year.

And Viola easy income tax prep, no hunting for statements or receipts and no procrastination! Yay!!!
